Local Business Spotlight: Brandy's Soy Candles

A beer lovers dream. Am I right?! Brandy Mutchler started selling these wild creations in February of 2016. You can find her locally in Angier, NC, flea markets, and her own pop up shops. Excitingly, she will be posted up at the Brewgaloo 2019 Craft Beer Festival in downtown Raleigh this month! As a single mother at the age of 17, she knew she had big dreams to be her own boss. And her favorite part about it? She can drink on the job! Comically, Brandy does enjoy that aspect while also setting her own hours, making decisions and being as creative as she wants with no boundaries!

“The business was a total accident…”
It all started at Carolina Brewing Company when Brandy was discussing her ideas with her husband the bartender . Brandy has a love for making candles, but she was stuck as to what direction she wanted to go. With too many candles named “Lavender Rose” or “Holiday Spirit” she wanted to do something completely different and unique. Her two favorite things; beer and candles. The perfect combination for not only women but also men! She took home a couple pint glasses, given by the bartender, to start pouring her soy candle wax into. Pint glasses turned into rocks glasses, to jars and now she even has soy wax melts! The 4oz jars were specifically made for Lowes Foods, in Apex, who carried the candles in store. They became so loved, they are now her biggest seller!

Is it just me or do those make you want to pack up and head to a brewery?! These cool combinations give you the best of both worlds. A wonderfully scented room and a soy candle free from the harmful chemicals found in other candle wax. If you are not a beer drinker, no worries!
