Local Business Spotlight: Taylor's Wine Shop
A TRUE, HIDDEN GEM INSIDE OF A BP GAS STATION.
In business since 1980, Taylor’s Wine Shop has come a long way from just selling gas and snacks! As the community grew around the business, the highway opened up and the scenery changed, so did their business and one day they just decided to evolve in the wine direction. After growing with the community the BP Gas station turned into a retailer of fine wines, coffee, craft beer, local products and even live bait!
“We enjoy wine and enjoy great wine!”
The love and passion for wine is what fueled the decision to go in the wine shop direction. Not only did they want to offer their customers options, they wanted to offer exclusive options. So they go above and beyond to seek out some really fantastic wines, collectible wines, rare wines and hard to get wines from boutique wineries. That isn’t the only specialty item that they offer…
“We sell live bait!”
What an interesting combination! Honestly, a one stop shop for just about anyone. Years ago before all of the fancy wine they sold crickets, minnows and worms. The Falls Lake fisherman special! Now craft beers are where the crickets were and wine is where the minnows were. But don’t worry, you can still purchase some good old red wigglers to snatch on your way to go fishing on Falls Lake!
Taylor’s Wine Shop GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY!
What an awesome answer when asked what the most rewarding part of their business is. TWS gives back to several charities throughout the year. Each year they put together a fundraising team for Walk of Hope which supports the research and treatment of mental illness. The owner, Taylor Cash, is on the Board of Hope. Another organization they support is the Frankie Lennon Foundation. They help raise money by entering in their annual wine auction.
Free wine tastings and beer tastings every month!
TWS offers free tastings monthly along with winemaker dinners, and informational seminars. They are very excited to be hosting the Reidel Glassware Seminar on May 2nd. These tickets can be purchased for $60 through the website and include a 5 piece glass set for yourself to take home!
